Hillgate Nurseries has been well-established in the industry for over 35+ years and has put technological advancements and efficient growing techniques at the forefront.

Each year 160+ Million plants are sown and delivered across the UK. This is all achieved using high-tech automated machinery, reduces our labour intensive tasks, and keeps our workforce down to a minimum.

Founded in 1985 by David Barton and his wife Valerie. David started from a small garden sized glasshouse supplying local farmers with vegetable produce, and eventually leading to acquiring land in the center of the village located on Hillgate Street, where the company name derives. After many years David and his son Phillip outgrew the original site and moved to the now current location just outside of Terrington St Clements.

​Fast forward to 2020 David has since retired, and it is now operated by Phillip and his wife Tracy alongside their 3 children. The site has since reached a size of around 20 acres (8ha) of indoor growing space with further outside space for hardening plants off. A vital part for a good transplantable plant.
